Sandy was the youngest of six kids and grew up in Weston, Massachusetts. She went to Trinity College in Hartford, where she met her husband Rick, and later earned a Masters in International Affairs and Economics from Johns Hopkins. Eventually, they moved to Nashville (Rick’s home town) and for the last 20 years, she has worked and lived in Bellevue near Edwin Warner Park, with Rick and their two children, Madeleine (17) and Richard (20), who has profound intellectual disabilities and developmental delays. This has kept Sandy and her family deeply involved in the Metro Public School system.
In 2012, Sandy earned her doctorate from Vanderbilt in Sustainability and Environmental Management and has since worked in the sustainability field. She currently works at Lendlease, building sustainable and healthy homes for our military families, including at Fort Campbell. Over the years, she held various volunteer positions with the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance, raising funds for research to find a cure for her son’s disease. She is also a member of the Tennessee Technology Access Program Advisory Council, working to ensure that people with disabilities have access to the technology and resources they need to enjoy equal opportunities.
Sandy was elected to Metro City Council in August 2023 to represent District 34 and joined Bellevue Exchange Club as a new member in the Fall.
